New Qualification for Moy

Thermographic qualification for Moy

We are pleased to announce that Cathal Quinn has successfully completed his thermography training with the Thermography Institute in the UK. This course covers all aspects of the science and practical application of thermography, with a special emphasis on the surveying of the built environment and culminates in an exam. Cathal has achieved his qualification and is now a valuable addition to our thermographic team.

Insulation which is saturated will absorb heat energy during the day, as the sun drops, toward evening time, this heat will be released into the atmosphere. As the wet insulation radiates far more heat than the dry insulation, it is shown in the thermal image as red / orange, the dry insulation is shown as dark blue. Using our Thermal Imaging camera, Moy Materials Ltd. was able to determine the precise extent of the rainwater ingress. The saturated insulation areas could then be marked with chalk lines (see digital image opposite), thereby allowing the building owner to replace only the affected area.

If you have any questions about thermography, or would like to arrange a survey, just give Cathal a call on 087 9064172.
